It’s all about soul
The title to one of my favourite Billy Joel songs is, “All about soul” and it contains the following chorus:
“It’s gonna get dark, it’s gonna get cold
You’ve got to be tough, but that ain’t enough
It’s all about soul… “
If asked, “Have you got soul?” most of us will answer, “Yes, of course I have soul. I am tough. I can weather the storm. I can prevail. I will succeed.”
Have you got the stamina, motivation, the grit, desire and drive to succeed?
You do? Well you need to especially at those frequent times when that invisible hand reaches out from the cosmos and grabs your guts in a cold vicelike grip of despair, depression, fear and insecurity then forces you to question your abilities and motives?
Do you have the soul to persevere? Can you face down the questioning monster that has grabbed you in the pit of your abdomen and pushed you to the limit and whispered questions about your success values, your tenacity, skills, determination and rights to harvest the rewards of success?
Just how strong are you? How much willpower have you got to force yourself to remain steadfast, focused and stay upbeat while that freezing grip of insecurity twists at your innermost defences and urges you to give up, walk away and let someone else succeed today instead of you?
Is that icy grip making you think you are not able to succeed? How strong is your ‘soul’? Can you go face to face with those fears that are lurking in your mind? It’s the will to overcome obstacles coupled with an unerring need to succeed driven by ‘soul’ which separates the successful from the mediocre.
And you are not mediocre. You are successful.
Go on. Shoo. Go do your job and lead your collections teams to the success they and you deserve. Do it.
